I am here with my second card as part of my review of the Set the Scene stamp set by Clearly Besotted. As soon as I saw the challenge at Merry Monday, I know this set would be perfect for the task - here is is the photo inspiration 'Silent Night'
I adore the soft snowy hills and those gorgeous trees and that's what I wanted to capture in my card - I also wanted to add some soft, silent snow falling too - giving a real sense of peacefulness.
I started with an A6 base card and a trimmed top card for working on. I began by die cutting the globe out of the top card and then positioned it back on the base card. I then drew around the die cut shape so I knew where I would need to work on the base card.
I stamped the small tree from the Set the Scene set using the rock and roll technique to give two tone colours.
I heat embossed over this in clear as I wanted to colour the background without the tree being affected. Next, I took the die cut globe and cut off the 'base.' Along the bottom of the top section, I attached a strip of double sided tape and trimmed it to the shape of the globe.
Using my stamp-a-majig, I then stamped the snow hill and carefully cut it out. The top layer of the double sided tape was removed and the snow hill covered in white glitter.
I added this to the globe (MISTAKE - should've done the colouring first!!) and then coloured the background with two shades of blue Spectrum Noir Markers.
I stamped another tree using the same rock and roll technique, heat embossed over the top in clear and then carefully cut it out - this took a while!!. This was then placed on top of the snow hill - the top was secured with a foam pad. The final touches were some small pearls added to the background as snow, the top panel added and the bottom section of the 'globe' set into the die cut.
I decided to put the sentiment 'Merry and Bright' further down the card. Here is the end result….
Many thanks for looking. Any comments always so very much appreciated. Laura xx
