Uniko Studio Challenge 15 - a 3rd Birthday card

It has been another busy morning at LE Designs HQ. Prior to working, I went out a much needed run with one of my running buddies. I had aimed for a 20 minute run since I hadn't been for so long, but I actually managed 26 minutes so I was super pleased. After a quick change and a coffee, it was time to get busy.

I had been putting off the latest Uniko Studio challenge because I was completely stumped for what do to! The theme is 'Texture' and the colour palette is

I decided that the colours would be quite good for on a masculine card and I did in fact have a 3rd birthday card to make, so I decided to run with that.

I pulled out all my Uniko Studio stamps and decided which I could use. I selected the Teddy from Sweet Baby, the 'Awesome' from All occasion sentiments 2 and then combined 'Happy Birthday' and 'Best Wishes' from A Gift for you to make 'Birthday Wishes.'

I decided to use linen card in order to get some texture in! I used this for my base card and then added a layer of a greyish/buff colour and then a smaller layer of the linen card backed in a mint colour. I wanted to combine the greens and gold colour so I created paint splatters (This is SO my go to thing to do just now) on the top linen card. I decided to use distress markers for this, and added some perfect pearls to the water before spraying the marker colours. This meant the splatters have a gorgeous shimmer on them adding a different 'texture.' I also added some dots of gold liquid pearls to give even more. I love the raised effect this gives.

I heat embossed in gold, 'Awesome' and 'Birthday wishes' on this card too and also added a small green star to the very centre of the existing star in the word 'Awesome.'

I heat embossed in gold, the teddy from Sweet Baby on to some kraft card and fussy cut out. This was then added using foam pads on top of the paint splattered card.

To finish I added a strip of flat jute ribbon and then tried something a bit different with a die cut number 3. I pressed the 3 into my embossing ink and covered in white embossing powder and heat set. I then scrubbed the number with a kitchen scourer (not sure this actually did much!) and then pressed it in to the remaining distress marker paints I had on my craft sheet.  - it gave a kind of worn/marble effect?? I hoped it might look like the door in the inspiration photo!! It kind of works!!

So here it is, a 3rd Birthday card with 'texture'…..

Many thanks for looking. Any comments as always so very much appreciated.
