Clearly Besotted Set the Scene Card 3 & Clearly Besotted challenge 14

Good morning all,

I am back with more cards to share based on my review of the Clearly Besotted stamp set - Set the Scene. I am finding this to be such a versatile collection with endless possibilities. I have created 4 cards, but I can see myself creating so many more in the run up to Christmas. I am feeling it will be especially great for creating really quick CAS cards for the children in my son's class at school - he even loves helping me with such tasks.

The card I am going to share for the Clearly Besotted challenge makes used of the gorgeous globe, which has actually featured on all my cards, and the large tree.

I began by heat embossing in gold, the globe on a piece of 7.5cm x 7.5cm card. My base card is going to be a small square one, measuring (when folded) 8 x 8cm.

I then inked up the large tree and stamped it on my Stamp-a-ma-jig sheet so I would then be able to get the stamp to exactly the position I want.

You can see I hadn't inked the tree up very well, but it doesn't matter that much for just on the stamp-a-ma-jig.

Once I decided on the right position, I then inked up the stamp again in green and added Christmas Green to the edges of the tree to give some variation in colour.

I really love this two toned effect.

Next, I stamped over the tree again using embossing ink and heat embossed with clear EP. The reason for doing this is so that I can then colour the background without the tree being affected. It also gives a really beautiful sheen to the tree that I love. Another option would be to use masking fluid, but the tree is very defined around the edges and I think it would be really difficult to get just the tree painted.

I then began colouring my background with Spectrum Noir markers in two shades, again to give definition and a sense of the globe being round.

It was time to work on the base of the globe. I had found it quite difficult to stamp the image I wanted from the set well, when the globe had already been embossed on the card. I decided therefore to stamp the image separately and then cut it out. I tried first of all with card, but it stood up too much from the page, so I opted for paper instead.

It was now time to decorate the tree! I got out my small crystals from Anita's and a tube of stars from Tesco.

With a bit of careful positioning and gluing, and then propping the card up on foam pads and attaching to the base card, my finished card was complete.
